Servus Credit Union is giving away $1 million dollars to one lucky winner this spring in The Big Share™ Contest, the biggest of its kind in Canada. The Big Share is designed to encourage people to save and to celebrate the millions of dollars in Profit Share® Servus pays to members each year. Servus Credit Union has paid its members more than $472 million in profits and dividends since 2008.
“We know that saving contributes to people feeling more resilient and positive about their money. So to give people more incentive to save and invest, we’re giving $1 million from our profits to a single winner,” says Dion Linke, Chief Operating Officer at Servus Credit Union. “Servus gives Albertans the opportunity to feel good about their money by saving and earning more Profit Share® Rewards cash on those savings.”
It’s easy to enter for a chance to win The Big Share. All existing Servus members receive 1 entry for every $1 of Profit Share Rewards cash received in December 2018 (1 entry minimum). Additional entries will be given for every $500 that your Servus savings balances grow between January 1 and April 30, whether it’s in a savings or chequing account, GIC (Guaranteed Investment Certificate), or TFSA (Tax-Free Savings Account)—any type of savings deposit since January 1 will get you entered*.
“Nobody loses with this contest,” says Linke. “Not only will members be saving their money for a chance to win, but they’ll also be earning interest, Profit Share Rewards cash, and one member will walk away with a million dollars!” The winner of The Big Share will be announced June 3, 2019.
In December, member-owners of Servus Credit Union received a record $52.4 million. This included $30.6 million in patronage (Profit Share Rewards cash), $18.1 million in common share dividends and $5.2 million in investment share dividends. The program is a unique offering in the financial sector and the more business members have with the credit union, the more they share in its success. Individual members receive the payments as deposits into their accounts, while commercial and agricultural members receive a cash rebate on their service charges.
