Alberta Central, in partnership with Credit Unions of Alberta, is excited to announce the two recipients of the third Big Future Innovation Grant: Bio-Agtive Emissions Farming and moovez!
The Big Future Innovation Grant provides an opportunity for two Alberta-based small business owners to receive $25,000 in funding to help grow their business and foster innovation.
Following a review of submissions from across the province and presentations to a panel of credit union system and industry judges from five shortlisted applicants on Friday, December 9, Bio-Agtive and moovez were selected as the grant recipients.
Bio-Agtive Emissions Faming
Bio-Agtive Emissions Farming is a Pincher Creek, Alberta based company that uses innovative technology to recycle internal combustion emissions from biofuel and transform it into rich plant nutrition to be returned to the crop environment. Bio-Agtive’s technology works with any mechanized agricultural equipment and is licensed to farmers who practice the Bio-Agtive Method to aggregate their offsets to sell on voluntary carbon markets. moovez
moovez is a Calgary, Alberta based managed marketplace that allows consumers and businesses to get a vehicle of any size, ready on-demand. By tapping into the network of moving and delivery vehicles on the road and using a custom-built a platform to connect supply and demand more efficiently, moovez is able to better optimize the entire grid. The judging panel included Alberta Central’s Chief Strategy, People and Credit Union Relations Officer Loree Gray, previous Grant winner Mike Zouhri from PainWorth, Shaf Rana from the Emerging Leaders of Alberta and Rob Gray, Vice President Communications, Servus Credit Union, liked how both of these applicants demonstrated an innovative approach to an existing issue in the market and how both had a clear path for how to use the grant funds to meet their long-term business goals.
